Grandma's African Violets

I got a small little start of one of Grandma Palmers' African Violets. I absolutely love it! I have never had an indoor plant, and had heard that African Violets take a lot of care and are really hard to keep alive. Well with the magic touch of Grandma's green thumb this little guy is still alive and ready to be transplanted. I have been so nervous because I didn't want to put it into shock and have it die. Yesterday was the day, and so far the transplant has worked and it looks so much happier now that it has more room to grow.

The funny thing is, I've had this crazy Poinsettia since Christmas and for some reason it's still alive. The only thing I can think of is that it has been sitting next to Grandma's Violet.

Next I will be trying to figure out the art of "starting" a new Violet from this one - something grandma was a pro at. When I get it figured out I'd be happy to "start" one for you - if you would like one.
